Building Confidence: Courage Creates Confidence

Courage-JigSawCourage is asking more of yourself and what often happens is that you get it. By getting what you ask for you then grow in your capabilities. Therefore, the moment you start acting is the moment your confidence level will begin its elevation. It won’t be long before you and others will see that growing is in PROGRESS. It was Winston Churchill who said, “Courage is the first of human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others.” Courage will help you in NOT being a copycat of what others expect you to be. Courage will aid you in stepping out and feeling comfortable in your own skin. You don’t need to pretend; pretending will hinder you from enjoying a full and confident life. Some will like you and some won’t, but don’t let that be decided because you are fearful of being yourself.

Are you thinking that you have to be perfect? I hope not, because you don’t need to! Do you know that you have abilities that can help others? Sharing what you can do will build your confidence! Are you being grateful for what you have? If you think you don’t have enough, you may lack the courage to act from where you are.

Avoid the idea of being Perfect. Perfectionism hampers success. With courage you will know that you don’t have to be perfect to take action. To say the least, being perfect may take a lifetime to reach and that is if you will ever be perfect. Courage is what will take you out of that state of fear and cause you to take action regardless. You may be laughed at when you give the thing you want to accomplish a try, but by taking action whilst you are not perfect will only take you closer to your goal.

Help others. Helping others is a great way to build your confidence. It was Zig Ziglar who said, “If you will help enough people get what they want, you will get what you want.” Besides, when you offer your help to others they are not the only person who benefits. Helping others provides you with that feel-good emotion, and when you feel good about yourself, you become more confident. A very important criterion for this process is to genuinely show that you care! It was Pablo who said, “Never underestimate the difference YOU can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. This week reach to someone that might need a lift.” When you give help; you have been helped!

Today you have the option of pointing out the good attributes in someone you know. You can start by lifting someone’s spirit whenever you get the chance; it will also leave you with a good feeling. Doing so will boost your confidence. It takes courage to give someone a compliment, but giving a compliment will leave the other person feeling good about his or herself.

Stick to your Values. Sticking to your values will also give you confidence. If you have the courage to stand for the values you have for yourself, you are showing that you stand for something. Like the saying goes, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Courage plays a key role in the process, especially when everybody else is going against the values you have for yourself. Don’t lose your values; if you do they weren’t values at all. Standing for what you believe in is courage and that courage will create confidence.

How you think has a lot to do with the amount of success you have. Remember, you don’t have to be perfect to act. As Les Brown would say, “Perfection doesn’t exist. You can only better your best.” Furthermore, helping others and sticking to your values take courage and also play an integral part in building your confidence. With confidence you will be able to take action that is necessary to explore the options that are presented to you. If you are to be confident you need to be courageous. I was told that I have to be willing to act in spite of my fears and that will help to build my confidence. Therefore, let’s begin by acting in spite of fear. It was Eleanor Roosevelt who said, “We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.”

You may surprise yourself of your greatness! Act in spite of fear!
