Make The Rest of This Year The Best of This Year

Do you want the rest of this year to be the best of this year? If you do, you may have to change the way you have been doing things. Remember, things will not change unless you make the changes yourself.

Let’s begin with Time Management – How we spend our time has a lot to do with the amount of things we get done. You may have to analyze your time to see what hasn’t been working for you and start making adjustments. It was Marcia Weider who said, “It’s how we spend our time here and now, that really matters. If you are fed up with the way you have come to interact with time, change it.” Your Time is very important, don’t waste it!

The next thing that can help with making the rest of the year the best of the year is getting organized. There are great benefits in getting organized as it helps to cut down on frustration and minimize clutter. Also, when you are organized you will increase in productivity and be able to save yourself valuable time. Start today to put in order the things you would want to get accomplished. As Maya Angelou said, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.” The first thing you should do is get yourself a planner!

A big part of making the rest of the year the best of the year is taking away things that aren’t beneficial because clutter drains your energy and your focus. You have to organize to simplify and that means you have to subtract before you start adding. As Hans Hoffmann states, “The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.” Clutter is like you are having blinders over your eyes. Don’t block your vision with clutter. Start clearing things that you don’t want NOW!

Lets challenge ourselves to make the rest of this year the best of this year. Don’t sit there wondering if you can actually make the rest of this year the best of the year. In all reality, if you sit wondering you will only be wasting valuable time. As it is said, “Time wasted cannot be regained.” As a child growing up in Jamaica, we had a lot of work to get done, and you would always hear someone say, “Put your shoulders to the wheel and get moving.” And that is what you have to do in order to make the rest of this year the best of this year. It is always the wondering that causes delay of action in our lives. As passionate and optimistic as I am, I sometimes get caught up wondering also, but as soon as I realize it, I begin to talk myself out of that type of behavior.  You too can talk yourself out of behaviors you don’t want to maintain. Make your pep talk, a positive pep-talk.

What one goal have you not yet accomplished this year that you thought you would have accomplished? Are you willing to go at it again? Give it all you’ve got!
