Being motivated is important when on the journey to achieving our goals. It is important that we stay motivated, because at some point along the way we lose the momentum we need to carry us to the end. I love what Zig Ziglar said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing – that’s why we recommend it daily.” Staying motivated is a daily regiment, so it’s left up to us to take the necessary steps in order to stay motivated.
Say this mantra to yourself.
To revive your motivation:
You have to use your rear view mirror. Look back on what you have accomplished thus far. Most of the time our eyes are so focused on the goal, and that’s okay. However, sometimes when we don’t feel as if we are making enough progress, and we get upset with ourselves and lose the drive to continue. During such times, we have to look back to see how far we have come and the progress that we have made.
You can also change your approach by breaking down your goals into smaller and more manageable bites. Sometimes when our goal is too huge we tend to feel overwhelmed, then we lose our motivation. On the other hand, when we approach our goals in small steps we build our momentum. Momentum gives us motivation.
You can also take on something that challenges you. Preferably, you should make it something you will somewhat enjoy doing or will make you more productive. Sometimes we lose our motivation when what we are doing becomes boring or no longer challenges us. We are designed to grow, and if we are not growing we feel stagnant and as if we are not living on purpose.
