How Big Can You Dream?

Finish Strong

Start your day with a purpose in mind.

How big can you dream? How big can you think? It’s time to expand your thinking and expand your dream. Dream big dreams!

This past weekend was great and I want to share with you some of the nuggets I have taken away from a seminar that I have attended with Dr. Willie Jolley Hall of Fame Speaker and Best-Selling author of It only Takes A Minute To Change Your LifeA Setback Is A Setup For A Comeback and more.

“Success doesn’t happen by spontaneous combustion you have to set yourself on fire.” -Willie Jolley

I am fired up and ready to make this year my best year ever and I hope you feel the same way too.

Before I go any further I want you to know and as we were instructed at the seminar to set goals. I want you to know that it is very important that you set some goals for yourself and not that is going to keep you in your comfort zone. You want to set some goals that will stretch you, goals that will make you think.

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.” -Tony Robbins

This can be your year but you have to have some goals and with goals you have to be willing to take the action necessary so you can achieve your goals.

In regards to your goals I want to leave you with 4 things:

  1. You want to Decide What You Want. To achieve a goal you have to decide what goal you want to achieve. Making a decision will help you to focus on something specific and lesson the confusion of what you should be spending your time on each day in regards to the things you want to achieve.
  2. Make sure youWrite Down Your Goals (What You Want) and beside each goal put the date you want to accomplish the set goals. A goal that is not written down is considered just a wish. It’s time to get past the wishing for the things you want to accomplish. As a matter of fact, writing your goals down will motivate you to take action.
  3. You want to Read Your Goals At Least 3 Times Daily. Read your goal to yourself aloud at least once out of the 3 times daily.
  4. You want to See Yourself Achieving Your Goal. You must believe it is possible.

“If you set goals and go after them with all the determination you can muster, your gifts will take you places that will amaze you.” -Les Brown

Believe in your dreams.

  1. I have always likened having goals to throwing darts…you have to have a dart board in order to aim for the target. Without a target (goals) what sense of finite direction do we have in terms of our goals?

As your visual and your words illustrate so well, Richard, it all starts with believing…believing in ourselves and in the goals we can attain. We can be completely surrounded by a support network yet if we don’t believe in our own desires and capabilities how can we possibly move forward?

Writing goals down is a great visualization of what our targets are, a reminder to keep us from getting sidetracked or distracted…or worse yet derailed in the process. I have always visualized our ultimate goal as a pyramidal Christmas tree with layered steps in the process of reaching the pinnacle, the summit, the GOAL at the highest, most clearly defined and pivotal point in the tree.

I have a strong sense that 2015 will be a year of intense focus and overcoming obstacles Richard, a year to aspire to much and maintain focus on what is truly important to us. AND, I say without the least reservation that your insights truly help us focus on what we want out of life…from THIS moment forward.

From your Tony Robbins quote here Richard I also equate setting goals, in a metaphoric sense, to turning the intangible into the tangible…achieving a goal (conceptual) that we can reach out, touch, hold and embrace. Imagine…turning a dream (invisible) into a reality (visible)…now THAT’S some kind of tangible!

    • Well said Don. GOALS is very important. I once heard that if you don’t know where you are going, any road will take you there. There maybe somewhere you don’t want to be. Goals give us direction, clarity and a clear sense of purpose.
