To Be A Champion You Must Learn To DEFEAT Yourself

Defeat means winning victory over someone. In life at times the person we have to win the victory over is ourselves.

Do you want to win at the game of life? I do, and I guess you do too. A friend of mine has been on a strict diet of which he eliminated meat and dairy products. I remember the day when he called and told me that he was going to change his way of eating. Initially I thought to myself that I couldn’t see myself doing that, but I conquered that too. However, Wiggan has been an athlete all of his life. In fact, that’s how we met more than 15 years ago, competing against each other. To cut the story short, Wiggan told me more than a year ago that to be a champion you must learn to defeat yourself. Today, Wiggan is running faster than he ran 10 years ago. Why? He has learned how to defeat himself in many areas including craving the food that is unhealthy and even the thoughts that produce fear.

“If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self.”           – Napoleon Hill

What will you change to get the results you want out of life? Remember, just because you have been doing them all of your life doesn’t mean it will be impossible to change them. You have the power to change your behavior and habits if you want to. In life I found that it is not easy to stop behaviors and habits that have been entrenched deep into our subconscious mind, but I also know that we have the power to change our way of living in the world if we want to. My friend is a true champion, and I tell him almost every time we speak that his drive motivates me. He has been winning all of his races, and he associates his winnings especially to the change he has made in his diet.

So I wanted to share with you ways to D.E.F.E.A.T. yourself in the process of becoming a Champion:

BEING A CHAMPION = MAKING DECISIONS You have to make a conscious DECISION that you want to have more out of life. You have to be honest with yourself about where you are and where you want to be. Furthermore, you have to continue to make that decision over and over, especially when you don’t feel like it.

BEING A CHAMPION = EVALUATING WHERE YOU ARE You have to EVALUATE your life to see how what you have been doing is affecting your life. You have to choose to give up what you are for what you want to become.

BEING A CHAMPION = FOCUSING ON THE RIGHT THING You have to FOCUS on the one or two things you want to implement in your life and not so much on what you want to change.

BEING A CHAMPION = ENVISIONING THE OUTCOME BEFORE THE OUTCOME IS VISIBLE You have to ENVISION what you want to achieve in your minds eye and then start working towards that goal. Seeing yourself at the end even before you are there helps you to continue to make the right decisions to get there.

BEING A CHAMPION = ASSOCIATING WITH CHAMPIONS You have to ASSOCIATE yourself with other champions, and as you may have heard, success leaves clues. Through your association you’ll learn to drop habits that don’t serve your evolution.

BEING A CHAMPION = TRAINING YOURSELF You have to TRAIN yourself to accept a new way of life through constant practice, application, repeated action and affirmation.

Imagination: The Creation Of Our Thought

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.” – Albert Einstein

Imagination is the bench mark from which our thoughts become reality. The greatest gift that God, our creator, has given us is IMAGINATION. Imagination is where we form a mental image of what is not yet reality, and it is within the mind that such desire is first given its shape. It is said that man can create whatever he can imagine. It was the imagination of men and women who knew that their situations were not final and used  every effort within their creative faculty to make the things they imagined a reality. What that is saying is, you too can create in your mind a result that you would like to see in reality. The power to imagine was bestowed onto all of humanity. It is with the ability to imagine that limitations become non-existent.

Imagination gives us the ability to explore and experience a result in the world of our mind before it actually exists. This is where we can make our adjustments as we mentally create our desired thought. Imagination is that creative power that we all need to cultivate, because doing so will make it easier to achieve our desired goals.  This is what J. K. Rowling said during her Harvard Commencement Address, 2008 about imagination, “Imagination is not only the uniquely human capacity to envision that which is not, and, therefore, the foundation of all invention and innovation. In it’s arguably most transformative and revelatory capacity, it is the power that enables us to empathize with humans whose experiences we have never shared.” To say that, we now know that imagination is the main ingredient for our thoughts to expand our reality.

Because using your imagination boasts your creativity, it is good to exercise the imaginative faculty. With this in mind, the more you use your imagination, the better it gets. The Wright Brothers were the first to create man-powered flight, but it was with their imaginations that they were able to create it first. All results are created twice – first in the mind through imagination, second in reality.

Imagination strengthens the creative ability of the mind. It is the power of imagination that aids us in venturing outside of our so-called “box”. Sometimes we don’t challenge what others think we are not capable of accomplishing, but that is settling for the status quo. Imagination removes settling! Imagination is visualizing our reality, which is the first step in making what others think is impossible, possible. If you look carefully at the word impossible, this is what you will see – I’M POSSIBLE. Imagination will break through the walls of limitations that people think exist.

If you develop the habit of tapping into your imagination, you will be provided with an opportunity to tap into your true creative nature.  It is a gift that cannot be taken from you, because it is not tangible, it is within us. So let’s use it so we can envision more possibilities. Remember your imagination is the gateway to the realization of your dreams. What seeds are you planting in your mind now?

Make them positive!
