What are you waiting on to impact someone’s life meaningfully? If you know the way, start showing others the way.

Who are you going to be a mentor to? Think about it because the need is there.

A mentor can change someone’s life forever. Besides, how awesome would it be to change someone’s life for the better? Priceless, and it’s a good feeling when someone tell you or say publicly that if it wasn’t for you, they don’t know if they would’ve made it or avoided the many pitfalls others weren’t able to. By being a mentor comes with more than experiencing a good feeling from your deed. You too may have been mentored by someone who has helped with making your life better. On the other hand, you may not have been mentored, but you can still be the mentor you wish you had.

“The greatest gift you can give someone is your time. Because when you dedicate your time, you are offering a part of your life that you will never get back.” -Unknown

Let’s look at six awesome benefits of being a mentor. Being a mentor can help with:

  1. Maximizing your potential by proving you with an opportunity to step outside your comfort zone.
  2. Enhancing your study skills, and knowledge.
  3. Networking outside of your regular circle of which gives you the opportunity to meet other influential people.
  4. Taping in your leadership qualities, by improving your communication skills and personal skills.
  5. Opening doors of opportunity for you.
  6. Reinforcing habits that make you look good, (not physical appearance) especially when seeking employment.

Someone out there can benefit greatly from what you know, and as mentioned above, you too will benefit greatly from the endeavor. Will you take the pledge to make a difference in someone’s life? Remember, the position you hold doesn’t matter. If you know the way, show the way. If you have overcome adversity, help someone navigate through their rough time. If you know the principle of success, help someone else to be successful.

6 Ways To Finish Your Year Strong

Finish Strong

Even if you had a weak start, you can have a strong finish.

“Defeat doesn’t finish a man, quit does. A man is not finished when he’s defeated. He’s finished when he quits.” R.M.N.

You may not have had the year you envisioned but that shouldn’t stop you from finishing strong. How can you finish strong, you may ask? It’s not that difficult if you can approach each day with a positive mindset.

As the quote above states, the only time you are defeated is when you quit and you don’t want to make quitting your option.

Two years ago when I started sharing my thoughts I was at home contemplating how to finish my year better than I started. 2012 was not the best year and I wanted to make 2013 better and although the breakthrough didn’t come in January I still was able to have a better year than what I had in 2012. I changed my thoughts and actions to match what I wanted to see happen in my life, and life is increasingly better and better.

I wish the same for you!

These are six steps that you can apply to your life now to have a strong finish. Remember, whatever you do in the present will be your preparation for what you want to enjoy later.

  1. Set realistic goals. Setting goals is very important, but what is even more important is setting goals that you have a passion for. When you have the passion for something you’ll be more likely to find it in you to get it done.
  2. Talk with someone who can give you proper guidance or advice. If you haven’t already, you want to find a mentor. Sometimes we think we know it all but that is the wrong way to approach life. In fact, I said to myself if I knew better I should be doing better. It got better when I opened myself to be advised by someone who was able to give me some valuable tips that helped me tremendously.
  3. Reflect. Now is the right time to start reflecting on what you have done thus far. Through reflection you can see what has and what hasn’t worked for you. You want to be doing more of the things that have worked. Especially if you want to finish strong!
  4. Operate with a sense of urgency. Now is the time to do what you said you were going to do. Remember, it’s your commitment. You have to stop over-thinking what you have said you want to do and just execute. It is not going to be done by just thinking about it.
  5. Never stop learning. You can always improve on what you know and how you go about doing things. As always, learning something new is the best way to get ahead.
  6. Get out of your comfort zone. If you want to accomplish more than you have already, you have to go where you have not gone before. More is available to you, but you have to start making your way towards it. No other time is better than now.

If you want to finish strong [insert shameless plug], you can pick up my book Going Beyond Limitations or give it as a gift to a friend or family member. They will remember the gift of a book long after the holidays are gone.
