The Parable Of The Talents

The Parable Of The Talents

What will you do with what you were given?

There are a lot of profound stories in the Bible and this one is a great example where Jesus was teaching a moral lesson. A lesson that I think we all need to realize. However, Jesus may have been talking about money then but the principle behind this amazing story can be applied to so many different areas of our lives. You may have already read it, but this could just be a great time to revisit the moral lesson that Jesus was imparting to those men, but I believe the lesson is now to whosoever reads it.

Hear is the story:

14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. 16 The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. 17 So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. 18 But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money.

19 “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. 20 The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’

21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

22 “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’

23 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

24 “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. 25 So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’

26 “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? 27 Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest.

28 “So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags.29 For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. 30 And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

Let’s start by saying; it doesn’t matter to what circumstances you were born into. Be it ‘abundance’ or ‘scarcity’ you still have something of valuable to offer.

What happen to most of us at times is that we look at what we don’t have and missed the opportunity to offer what we are capable of offering to the world. The truth about our existence is what we do with what we are given. We all are given something.

Don’t let because of not having much stop you!

We all may not have the same starting point, but something that will never leave my mind is that “To whom much is given much is expected but we are all expected to share with others what we are capable of sharing”.

What can you do well? Don’t say nothing because there is something you can do well. The thing is, what you can do well may not be like what others are doing, but whatever it is it was entrusted on you to share/give what you were entrusted with to the world. Also, it doesn’t matter how people in our society are already doing it, you can still do or share what you are good at. Believe whatever was entrusted upon you is to serve a valuable purpose in your life and others.

Don’t be look at as lazy!

Today could be the day for you to realize that if you have only one ‘talent’ or where your starting point is scarcity you must begin at once to offer what you capable of offering to the world.

What you don’t use, you lose!

Don’t think giving/sharing what you have within to give will make your life lessor. In fact, you’ll draw more abundance to you.

If you have buried your talent (s) it’s time to dig them up!
